SENATOR CARRI HICKS NAMED CEO

OKLAHOMA CITY, June 25, 2021 -- State Senator Carri Hicks has been named CEO of Rainbow Fleet, an Oklahoma City nonprofit focused on early childhood education and quality child care.

Hicks, who will continue her service in the Senate, will begin her position with Rainbow Fleet on July 7.

“Senator Hicks’s classroom experience combined with her in-depth knowledge of policy that impacts children will benefit the children, families and child care providers served by Rainbow Fleet,” said Miles Pringle, president of the Rainbow Fleet Board of Trustees. “The board is committed to working with her to enhance child care in Oklahoma for the betterment of all children.”

Hicks earned her bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma City University, where she double majored in political science and mass communications. She has two master’s degrees: one from OCU in liberal arts and a second from Capella University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her master’s of science in education.

“I really see my role at Rainbow Fleet as an extension of the work I’ve been doing on early childhood at the state level,” Hicks said. “The opportunity to positively impact kids and families is a privilege. I’m excited for this new challenge.”

Hicks replaces Carrie Williams, who was recently named chief operations officer at the Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness.
